Environment

Consideration for the environment is at the heart of what we do. Articon consider the big picture and looks after the details. In order to minimise emissions we constantly endeavour to use environmentally friendly equipment. We know that using energy judiciously, preventing pollution and limiting noise from worksites really is our only choice.

As part of our efforts to ensure effective environmental protection, Articon strives to use machinery and vehicles with the latest green technology. We work to limit all fuel consumption, handle waste properly, and we require that machinery and vehicles be turned off when not in use. And we are always on the lookout for opportunities to reuse materials.

Articon’s facilities are built to the highest environmental specifications. A case in point is Articon’s building in Skála, which was the first in the Faroe Islands to be equipped with ocean heat pumps. We drew on our experience from this building when Tórshavn Municipality, on Articon’s suggestion, decided that the care home, Boðanesheimið, should be equipped with ocean heat pumps.

In addition, Articon has implemented clear procedures to minimise damage to equipment and environmental harm. At the end of the day, this simply makes Articon’s operations more robust.
