Some years ago the Faroese Parliament purchased a neighbouring building, the former headquarters of Faroese Telecom. In 1998 the original contractor Byggi-Service was asked to undertake a total refurbishment and renovation of the telecom building and to connect it to the parliament building. In December 2001, ArtiCon purchased Byggi-Service and later the two companies merged. The work was executed in three stages and finally completed in January 2007, at a cost of DKK 37.5 million. In the former telecom building there are now a number of offices used by parliamentarians, as well as conference rooms and Parliament’s administration offices. The exterior has been decorated by a gifted young Faroese artist.
